We are seeking an experienced engineer with a passion for leading engineering projects in a team setting. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of industry experience and demonstrate a skillset both in technical areas and in the ability to lead medium-sized projects.  (engineering teams ranging from 3 to 10 engineers)

Your Contributions:

  • Lead an engineering team to successfully execute complex engineering projects.  Monitor resource usage, schedule, technical achievement, and risk.  Ensure project finishes “on time, on budget” while meeting performance requirements.
  • Be able to view the project from the “big picture” and see how it fits with company goals.
  • Interact with other project lead engineers to leverage capabilities across the company.
  • Report project status, risks, and achievements to company management on a regular basis. 
  • Be able to contribute to technical work on the project(s), in a relevant area such as mechanical design, electrical design, thermal analysis, dynamics analysis, and system-level analysis.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers on the project team, particularly junior engineers.
  • Prepare documentation to support design decisions and to resolve issues. Prepare presentations for design reviews.  Lead technical interchange meetings and technical program reviews, both internal and with customer(s).
  • Contribute to the creation of customer proposals, including estimating costs and describing tasks in the scope of the proposal.
  • Support recruiting activities as needed to ensure adequate engineering resources are available for technical projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Engineering, including work on complex systems.
  • Intrinsic drive to understand and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Ability to visualize parts and systems, mentally and in drawings or CAD.
  • Experience leading small engineering teams or projects, at a minimum, experience as Design Lead as part of a broader team.
  • Excellent English language skills, verbal and written.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with lightweight aerostructures.
  • Experience with Siemens NX (preferred) or CATIA.
  • Some experience with analytical software such as FEM applications and/or MATLAB.
  • First-hand experience with composite manufacturing techniques.
